Ways to Volunteer

Volunteer service co-workers commit to volunteering with Camphill Village for a minimum of one year and are at least 19 years-old. Service volunteers live in a home with villagers and other volunteers, help manage their households, work alongside villagers in one of our many work places, and care for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of villagers.

AmeriCorps Members are volunteer service co-workers who commit to serving Camphill Village for one or two years, but join us from the AmeriCorps program. Like other volunteer service co-workers, they live in a home with villagers and other volunteers, help manage their households, work alongside villagers in one of our many work places, and care for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of villagers. After one year of service, they may be eligible for a financial award of $5,550 that can be used to pay for future educational endeavors or to help pay student loan debt. AmeriCorps members are required to complete weekly tracking sheets, will complete a project that involves supervising other volunteers, and will have six and twelve-month evaluations.

House Leaders usually commit to volunteering with Camphill Village for a minimum of three years and are at least 21 years-old. They participate in every aspect of Camphill Village life. Depending on prior experience, a house leader may join Camphill Village as either a “House Leader In-Training” or a “House Leader with Experience.” House leader volunteers manage their households, work alongside villagers in one of our many work places, supervise and mentor short-term service volunteers, and care for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the villagers with whom they live.

Craft Shop Leaders have a specialized skill in a craft or skilled trade and will supervise the work in a specific work place at Camphill Village. They will live and work alongside our villagers and volunteer service co-workers in their assigned work places, providing leadership, mentoring, and education.

Short-term volunteers are needed every summer to serve as temporary house leaders while our other volunteers are away on vacation, visiting family, or traveling with villagers. Previous Camphill experience is required.
