Camphill Village Car Report:
The car-group of Camphill Village has over the last 3 years attempted to improve the fleet of 54 cars into a more economic and ecological one. Every year we try to dispose of older, less fuel efficient cars and replace them with newer, more fuel efficient cars.
Currently the vehicles fleet of the community consists of:
- 3 Large 15-seater Vans
- 18 7-seater Minivans
- 7 5-seater Prius
- 5 5-seater Subarus
- 6 Various Co-Worker cars (5-seater passenger)
- 15 Work/ Maintenance related vehicles
The houses make the most use of our vehicles. Every neighborhood has a mix between the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Prius.
Factors that effect the choice of vehicles are: the availability of 4-wheel drive cars during snowy/icy conditions, the amount of seating, the cost of a new car, the fuel economy and particular house needs.
The current placement and fleet dynamics seems to be the best way to meet all the communities’ needs and requirements, while trying to get the best fuel economy and least impact on the environment.
