Arts and Culture:Fountain Hall

Culture and arts are a major part of life at Camphill Village, with Fountain Hall as its center. Renovated in 2002 to full accessibility, it hosts Village gatherings, concerts, festivals, plays, art exhibits, and many special occasions.

Music plays a key role in the daily life of the Village. People gather to sing, play instruments or enjoy dinner and music in the Village Green Café. Music features strongly in celebrations of festivals throughout the year, and in therapeutic work with individuals. Many people participate in musical groups: the Village Singers, the Village Band or the Village Ensemble, a handbell choir with supporting instruments. Music lessons in the lyre, recorder, and other instruments are available to the entire village, and many people at Camphill play one or more musical instruments. The Village also hosts concerts by nationally and internationally renowned musicians from time to time and often has puppeteers and other performances.

Our villagers participate in pageants and dramatic productions several times a year. They are encouraged to follow their artistic interests, whether it be painting, drawing, or even flower-arranging with flowers and boughs from the gardens and property.
